Letter from the President...Bob Edwards

Recently we experienced an all time high temperature for the date. Reminds us that spring is just around the corner. But the best sign of spring and warmer weather ahead is the traditional Opening Day of golf for men and women on April 4 and April 9 respectively. Just sign up in the Pro Shop. So, dust off your clubs and come on out and enjoy the best golf course in the Treasure Valley. You'll beglad you did!

Speaking of the golf course, our recent improvements to the #3 and #4 tee boxes have greatly improved the safety of those complexes while visually enhancing their overall appearance. Also check out the new concrete and sandstone steps on the #13 tee box.

Don't forget about our annual Easter Egg Hunt/Brunch on Saturday April 11 as well as the ever popular Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 12.

And as a reminder, April 21-24 is Administrative Professionals Week. The Terrace Room is a  great place to treat your key personnel to a terrific lunch while taking in the wonderful views of the mountains and the city.

Check out all the great things that are happening at Hillcrest Country Club in the the View's April calendar.

See you at the Club!

Membership Committee News
by Scott Richardson, Chairman

Membership Update
As of this writing (mid-March) the NCAA basketball tourney is in its first round of games, the weather is sunny and G 60F, golfers are hitting links, and your Membership Committee needs your help in recruiting new members to Hillcrest! We are currently down 29 members from our Regular membership capacity of 500.

In our effort to be responsive to these difficult economic times, we are implementing the following changes to our membership offerings:

Set an end date of 9/30/09 on the Under 40 promotion
Extend the Under 40 promotion to those under the age of 45; this promotion also ends  on 9/30/09
►Offer a 17% discount off Regular and Under 45 initiation fees if paid in cash.
►Spread the term of the initiation deferred payment plan over a longer time frame to make HCC membership more affordable to new members:

8-year initiation fee payment plan for Regular membership, rather than the current 4-year plan.
10-year initiation fee payment plan for Under 45 membership, rather that he current 5-year plan

The new incentive special for being the chief sponsor of a new member member is a "custom-fitset of new irons from the HCC Pro Shop ( a $1000 Value), or a $1000 credit to be redeemed in the dining room or Pro Shop." Your Membership Committee encourages you to take advantage of this unique offer and invite a prospect out for a complimentary round of golf or for a nice meal in the Terrace Room, or both!

A key to success for the elite basketball teams playing "the Final Four" is the constant recruiting of talented athletes to replenish the roster when their upper-classmen move on. These coaches scour the country getting referrals from high school coaches and alumni on who the best prospects are. The same strategy is true for premier country clubs, like Hillcrest, when membership numbers need replenishing. referrals on new member prospects from the current members are the key to increasing our overall membership!

Here is our plan to help generate these referrals from y'all. Beginning April  7th (after Louisville has edged out Pittsburgh to win the National Championship game), our committee members will be contacting our membership with phone calls, e-mails, and snail-mail to ask you for your "top prospects" that might have an interest in joining our fine Club. keep in mind, we will do the necessary "leg work"; all we need form you is a referral list of potential new members. If we all work together as a team, success will surely follow! Enjoy the final games of the tournament. May your bracket be a winner!
